Natasha
Calzatti honed her chops in the slums of Beverly Hills photographing a
galaxy of urban stars for the likes of VIBE, THE SOURCE, and NEWSWEEK.
The latter magazine further recognized her work, submitting an image of
Snoop Doggy Dogg cradling his newborn boy in the annual Alfred Eisenstaedt
Awards as one of the best photographs to appear within its pages.
Natasha’s youth oriented work led to bold lifestyle
campaigns for STARTER sports apparel and GIRLS SCOUTS OF AMERICA and stills
commissioned for WORLDCOM’s “Generation D” television
spots, and in 2004, Women in Photography International bestowed First
Prize in the Professional category for “Jump, Trailer Park”
in which she captured the simplicities and sweet eccentricities of trailer
park youth.
Natasha capped 2004 by organizing the exhibition
“Where at, Where to…” presenting images she photographed
while she and her father, camera operator Alex Calzatti (I AM CUBA), accepted
an invitation by the EICTV-International School of Cinema and Television
(Havana Province) to conduct a series of lectures and join a reunion of
the cast and crew of this seminal Cuban/Russian co-production.
