Gallery Four Student Profile Amy Buglass Cambridge School of Weston Amy Buglass is 16 years old and a junior at the Cambridge School of Weston, a progressive liberal arts high school for the artistically and academically talented. Her photographs have been in multiple shows and she most recently won first place in the still life category for the ninth annual juried competition at the Arthur Griffin Center for Photographic Art in Winchester, Massachusetts. Her passion for photography began during the summer of 1997, while at Camp Arcadia in Casco, Maine. She began photographing seriously in 1999 at Winchester High School under the direction of Robert Gillis. During the 1999-2000 school year, she had a total of five pictures in three shows. From one of the shows, sponsored by the Arthur Griffin Center for Photographic Art, she sold her first two photos. She sold 2 copies of ÒArtÓ (a photograph from a series for the Beaux Arts Ball, held on March 18, 2000), one to the director of the Arthur Griffin Center and one to a prominent New England collector who had most recently purchased an Edward Weston print. Amy wanted to further her photographic abilities so she applied to The Cambridge School of Weston. Since her acceptance in September of 2000, she has taken an advanced photography class and served as a teaching assistant for a beginning photography class. Both classes were under the direction of photographer Anne Rearick. Since she began taking pictures at age thirteen. Amy has sold three photographs, and been in five shows. Amy uses a Minolta SRT201 Single-Lens-Reflex Camera and Ilford paper, film, and chemicals for all of her photographs. She hopes to study photography in college and begin a career as a professional photographer.
