Introduction

Founded in 1997, Paris Photo has earned a reputation as a must-see event, the world's premier fair of photography in all its variety. From rare early images to today's most avant-garde work, Paris Photo has become the global reference for the market in 19th century, modern and contemporary photos.

Every November in the prestigious setting of the Carrousel du Louvre the fair brings together more than a hundred international galleries, a dozen publishers and some 50 specialized magazines. The Statement section dedicated to the emerging photographers of a featured country hosts a selection of some dozen galleries - from Germany (2001), Holland (2002), Mexico (2003) and, this year, Switzerland.

Acclaimed by the international press and always a hit with the public, Paris Photo draws more than 40,000 visitors, among them professionals, collectors, photographers and photography fans in general.
