Helen M. Stummer is a visual sociologist who has documented people in struggle for over 30 years. Her photographs are in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress, the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, The New York Historical Society as well as many others. She has published, exhibited and lectured widely and is the author of "No Easy Walk, Newark, 1980-1993" published by Temple University Press and "out of Darkness, How a Birthmother Found Herself while Searching for Her Daughter," previously published by HMS press in Canada and recently been translated and published in France.
