SARAH
S. BONES
Sarah S. Bones saved for her first 35mm camera at age 13, in
1969. She was soon hitchhiking into Philadelphia where she would photograph the
lives and circumstances of people living on the street. As a professional photographer,
her passion and courage for documenting people in need continued and has carried
her across Africa, south east Asia, Guatemala, Cuba, India, in addition to local
prisons and homeless shelters.
Assignments for non-government organizations
gives Sarah the opportunity to use her camera and vision to tell the stories of
men, women, and children around the world who are voiceless and too often ignored
by the popular media. In 2006 an assignment for CARE USA took her deep into Somalia
and in 2007 she traveled throughout the post conflict country Sierra Leone with
The Global Action Foundation. In July of 2008 she worked in Tanzania for Nurturing
Mind’s education project and onto Rwanda to do a story for the 15-year genocide
anniversary.
