Thirty
years ago in New Orleans, a tiny kitchen was my black and white darkroom with
blankets covering the windows and chemicals permeating the air. After many years
of artistic experimentation and an MFA from California College of Arts and Crafts
in 1998, I now use the photograph in combination with mixed media work. I combine
digital techniques with hand processes, creating composites of photographs with
collage-painting, printmaking, and photo transfers to paper, fresco and ceramic.
Images
from nature are my setting to create a kind of visual poetry that speaks in whispers
about what lies beneath the stillness.
