DIANE ROTER
Diane Roter is a writer, actor, director, poet
and photographer.
She is a certified teaching artist, and a writing and performance
coach.
She won the Bronze Wrangler award from the National Cowboy &
Western Heritage Museum in 1966 for her acting as "Jennifer"
--the lone regular female character among regular male characters,
in the fourth season of the long running TV western The Virginian.
She has also played such diverse roles as TV Indians on Laredo
and Hondo, a French Partisan on Rat Patrol, and a New York hippie
on Family Affair. After playing Drusilla, the teen-aged Egyptian
prostitute, in George Cukor's last film, the 1970 production of
Lawrence Durrell's "Justine," she moved to Paris to
study mime with Marcel Marceau.
As Danielle Roter she was a staff theater critic and arts writer
for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, and has written for the LA
Times Book Review, the San Jose Mercury News, The LA Daily News
and LA Weekly.
As Duncan Wilde, she has published essays, reviews and interviews
for the LA Free Press, Los Angeles Times, and the Advocate.
As Dani Roter, she has read her poetry at various venues.
She has directed several readings for Yale Cabaret Hollywood,
an informal theatre company of Yale School of Drama alumni, and
recently co-adapted, directed and performed in a new version of
Mark Twain's only play, "Ah Sin" presented by Yale Cabaret
Hollywood at the Los Angeles Heritage Museum.
