Merrie Asimow

I was born and lived for many years in the Boston area. I then moved to Los Angeles and finally to the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. I have had successful careers in both nursing and computers. While helping small businesses maintain their computer systems, I dreamed of becoming a full-time professional photographer and have finally realized that dream.
The concept of stopping the action and holding that moment in time forever has always excited me. That magic lured me into the world of still photography. My computer skills are an essential part of my approach to photography. The digital darkroom gives me the ability to uncover, discover, and present my interpretation of an image. My photographic style has moved away from the pure image to include artful design and combines many of my own techniques to give my photographs an unusual and painterly look.

I’d like the viewers of my photographs to be thrilled by the nobility and grace of the animals in my pictures and by the unexpected and surprising details of the people and landscapes in my travel photography. I have also begun to create surrealistic photography.
I live and work in Menlo Park, California, and travel extensively in pursuit of new photographic subjects. Always hoping that the light and the action will be aligned, I’m ready to click the shutter and make it my own. My work has appeared on the walls of numerous business establishments and in private collections in Los Angeles and the Bay Area.

Thanks so much for doing all of this - it's such a tremendous job. I'm very proud to be a part of this wonderful group.
I don't see anything on my site that I think needs fixing.
Best,
Merrie
