Kathryn Jacobi

Kathryn Jacobi Photography is a relatively new passion for me. I find that digital tools allow me the freedom to use photographic images in a way that I would use my images in my painting studio, as the raw ground of the imagination.

My background is as a classically trained contemporary realist painter and printmaker. I have been working professionally for over 40 years, exhibiting in galleries and museums throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, and have had more than 60 solo exhibits. During the past decade, I have been devoted as well to photography and have been showing my digital images consistently along with my paintings,, and as separate exhibits.

Over my life as an artist, I have always worked on two consecutive bodies of paintings (and now photographs) that are distinct and separate from each other. The first group is from direct observation and relates to my experience of the world. The second derives from my imagination, the images collectively weaving a narrative of my inner life and its journeys.

Dear Jean,
I have gotten the update info-- but have so little to update that I want to leave my section as it is. I have been almost entirely painting for the last couple of years, and have moved (mostly) to Oregon, and have been concentrating on the work without much showing--
